How is it no one notices that indoctrination is precisely what the right wing is so actively doing? Is it OK to indoctrinate if you’re Jesus freak, or a wealthy broadcaster protecting the even wealthier members of society, you have to wonder what the dividing line is.
The numerous attacks against the President and his appointees, and even the czars, which on a funny side note was something started under Reagan (OMFG, Reagan went against the Constitution!), is all a propaganda war unto itself.
If anyone is trying to indoctrinate, it is clearly the nutters on the right. From Glenn Beck going after Van Jones for being a commie, and forgetting to tell people that Van Jones was an integral part of the group Color of Change, which by strange coincidence has reduced the number of companies willing to soil their reputation by sponsoring his show. But surely that is unrelated to Beck’s attack, I mean why would he be mad about that?
Indoctrination is more easily accomplished with children, and often the lessons learned, however false, are difficult to erase. But this is certainly not to say that older people cannot be indoctrinated, but it often helps if there are psychological strains on them that can open them up to new “ideas.” And so with a recession and near market collapse, with things tough for everyone not getting a bailout, and with a President who is not white, there is more than enough desperate people willing to believe that government is now the enemy, I mean now that the GOP isn’t running everything.
Their attacks on the President call him “The one,” though he only referred to himself in that way as a joke after the Reich wing started it. He is somehow a socialist, a Nazi (while Nazis were called “National Socialists, no sane person could ever describe them as actually being socialist), a commie, and too weak to lead our brave soldiers. Oh, and sometimes he is an illegal alien to boot.
During the previous administration, is was tantamount to treason to even say that President Bush was doing something wrong, at least up until 2006 when he became a liability to the GOP. While some did call the previous President a Nazi, they were few and far between, and certainly were not saying things like this on a daily basis on the largest viewed news show, which somehow still says that mainstream news is biased against conservatives. It is like they are some bizarre giant, stomping happily around destroying things thinking they are saving them, and then claiming they are a midget.
